Which do you think will announce its casting first - Superman: Legacy or MCU Fantastic Four? If it ends up being the former, then that'll show just how much the latter's been dragging their feet with their casting announcement (considering they've had probably twice as long to do it).

I would lean towards hearing something concrete about Superman at this moment.

He looks a lot like Cavill.
I wouldn't have minded "something different"

Perfectly fine with that casting.

Cornsweat looks like that guy you always see in a perfume ad. You know, the guy with the permanent five-clock shadow who knows how to stare into nothingness exceedingly well. Brosnahan has a certain annoying energy to her person, but that could be good old fashion ACTING.

It doesn't take much for someone to look like Superman, which he does just fine at. I saw him in Pearl but the only one to stand out in that film was Mia Goth (naturally), so I may have to rewatch and assess his acting ability.

I heard that Rachel Brosnahan was really good in that Prime Ms. Maisel show but I have yet to look into it.
She does have a Margot Kidder look to her tho. So at the very least she'll appear similar to familiar Lois Lanes.

I love Fillion but he’s too likeable to play a convincing Guy Gardner. Gardner should have a rough around the edges feel to him. There’s a great comparison of all the Green Lanterns via the way they use their light based powers. Since it is essential your mind creating it anything can be constructed. John Stewart, an ex marine and architect would create elaborately detailed firearms…Kyle Rayner, an artist, would have these super creative creatures or highly detailed vehicles. Guy Gardner would create a hammer…or a rock. He’s very emotional and blunt. He’s a character I love and my favorite Green Lantern…but he’s not as charming as Fillion is bound to be.

I hope he can but Guy Gardner isn't like Malcolm Reynolds. Fillion typical portrays characters with a lot of charm that shines through, Guy Gardner isn't like that. Gardner doesn't win a lot of people over with his sweet talk. He's kind of a brash, arrogant a-hole that a lot of other heroes don't really enjoy working with. He's a hero with an abrasive personality.

And does a specific hairstyle really matter that much to the character's portrayal? Like, will something be lsot if he *doesn't* have a bowl cut? Live-action movie versions of comic books HATE casting real redheads in roles for some reason (this is hardly the first instance and I'm sure it's far from the last).

That’s all fair but surely you can understand my skepticism when I’ve not yet seen a particular actor portray a character like the one he’s about to. I really like Nathan Fillion but first impression for me is that this is a bit of a miscast for Guy Gardner. My expectation is that the character will be closer to a Hal Jordan personality wise. But I hope Fillion does great in the role either way.

Yes, I've seen his new crew cut and some of the other misguided hairstyles they've tried on him. To me, that haircut and that attitude is Guy Gardner - the black sheep of the Green Lantern family. If they can maintain that 1950s sleeveless greaser vest he's worn since God was a boy, they can bring back the haircut.

Guy is hot-blooded, impulsive, and reckless. John Stewart is by-the-book to a fault. And there are many haircuts to choose from for all three.

You minimally have six dudes in terms of human male representation in the corps. Sure plenty of hairstyles and personalities to go around, but they need to be truly distinctive and not just variations on a theme. Gardner isn't just hot-headed in the comics I've read - he's a legit jerk, and I think fans will want to see that come through. Giving him the vintage haircut would be a great way to visually signal that he's not just an edgier proxy for Jordan.

Courage is basically the one trait these folk have in common, so I think it will be easy to distinguish them all in many ways. I don't think a bullcut is the only way to signal to fans that Gardner is more than just an edgier variant of Jordon. I wouldn't count on Gardner's comic book personality coming through 100%. I fully expect to see Guy Gardner given the "Adaptational Nice Guy" treatment similar to how Marvel Studios made their Tony Stark a relatively nicer jerk than the Tony Stark of the comics.
