James Gunn said this particular Superman movie could still happen.

"Scooper" culture is annoying. I LOVE the way Gunn keeps handing them their lying asses over and over again. It NEVER gets old.

I LOVE the way Gunn keeps handing them their lying asses over and over again. It NEVER gets old. Ditto, but I just wish he didn't have to constantly keep on top of this. Call me a sadist, but I want more. Crybabies in the media say he's risking his relationships with critics by being so aggressive. I say fuck 'em. If they're lying, they deserve to be outed --- fast and hard. The fact that he's willing to do it despite the personal cost to himself is righteous soldiering. He shuts down garbage quickly, and he's all but vaporized those useless, clout-chasing middlemen. We, as fans, don't need hackneyed so-called tastemakers to mediate our relationship with creatives. Now we mainline accurate information that comes straight from the source. Lies and false rumors emboldened the Snyder cult and allowed them to thrive for far longer than they should have. Each new undisputed false rumor gave them six more months of rage-tweeting and us six more months of fandom winter. And I'm not worried about his ability to get in a full day's work and spree-kill serial liars on Twitter. The man has proven that he can easily walk and chew gum at the same time. The iron hand of Death Man rests upon Gunn's right shoulder. I support his killings.

I think I got an hour, total, into it, but there was just so much stupid every minute and each new minute was enough stupid to fill a whole essay's worth of ranting. The Amazon sequence almost did me in, but then Diana randomly discovering an Indiana Jones-style temple under the temple where the flaming warning arrow landed was the last straw. In the Snyder Cut, that's how she finds out about The New Gods and Darkseid. I was fine with Diana just knowing about The New Gods already in the Whedon Cut, because there was no reason for THAT to be kept from her by her mother. I can buy the truth about Zeus and Ares being her father and brother, respectively, being kept from Diana, but Diana never being warned that a nine-foot Bayformer knockoff might just drop out of the sky looking for a Box that's kept in a shrine at far edge of the island?

One day my nine lives will run out, and I'll be forced to watch the Snyder cut with a "good friend" who doubles as a closeted Snyder zealot. Until then, I live to die another day.

Well, after seeing Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3, I can safely say all my concerns about him directing Superman have been put to rest. The man clearly understands how to sculp a good narrative and knows character journeys on a level few other directors I've ever seen work in the genre do.

He's up WHERE? Well, after seeing Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3, I can safely say all my concerns about him directing Superman have been put to rest. The man clearly understands how to sculp a good narrative and knows character journeys on a level few other directors I've ever seen work in the genre do. Personally, I'm going to wait and see who he casts and see if he can manage to make a movie that doesn't rely on his usual crutches before I declare that the character of Superman is safe in his hands.

Tim Burton's look on his face says it all. When even Tim Burton thinks he's getting a little too off-base, yeah, it's probably a good idea to just cancel the damn thing.

I kinda want James Gunn to cast a black actor for Superman just to see some people loose their shit over it.

We have more specific names now!
"... Insiders close to the process say the first in-person tests with DC co-heads Peter Safran and James Gunn (who is writing and directing the pic) will take place around Father’s Day weekend or the Monday or Tuesday after with Nicholas Hoult, David Corenswet and Tom Brittney expected to test for Clark Kent aka Superman, and Emma Mackey, Rachel Brosnahan and Phoebe Dynevor testing for Lois Lane. Sources added that some of the test deals are still being negotiated and haven’t all closed, but that as of now these are the names expected to participate in the auditions."

Well, whoever out of those^ names they cast in the roles will be an improvement over the MoS casting as far as I'm concerned.

The Superman reboot might also introduce the Authority to James Gunn's DCU.

Well, if Gunn doesn't end up giving his Superman the red trunks...I hope he at least gives him the yellow belt to help break up all that blue and prevent it from looking so much like a onesie.

Possible hint at what kind of villains might appear? Unless he's just in conflict with the Authority instead.
