Remember that Mark Hammil rumor? I hope it’s still a possibility.

James Gunn has confirmed that the upcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” from Marvel Studios will utilise the same StageCraft technology that Lucasfilm uses on “The Mandalorian” and which is being used on the upcoming “Thor: Love and Thunder”.
Gunn also confirmed earlier this week he is 100% finished with “The Suicide Squad” at Warner Bros. Pictures.

Get the guy that played Viktor Drago in Creed II. No one will ever know under the makeup.

Drax is too good of a character to leave to the whims of an actor. Recast after GOTG 3. I'm sick of this notion that characters that have been part of pop culture for decades have to disappear from movies every time an actor quits.

I'm sick of this notion that characters that have been part of pop culture for decades have to disappear from movies every time an actor quits. That's the bitter pill we have to swallow for this level of mass adoption and popularity. There is always going to be a large segment of the audience that's more invested in the actor than the character. If there were a substitution culture in place (like at DC), this wouldn't be an issue. There's a new Batman every five minutes - Iron Man, on the other hand... not so much. It will eventually become more commonplace to swap out the actors, but I think we've got a long wait before that occurs.

This is assuming that Drax isn't killed off in GOTG 3.

If Gunn is closing the door on the character once Dave leaves, I'm fine with that. Drax is heavily tied to Thanos and... well... Besides, there are literally dozens of other Guardians to choose from that have not been on the big screen yet.

If there can be 6 James Bonds then there can be 2 Draxes and not enough people will care enough to impact the bottom line.

If there can be 6 James Bonds then there can be 2 Draxes and not enough people will care enough to impact the bottom line. Counting the Holiday Special, Drax will have appeared in seven different MCU productions. I think that at least ties him with any single Bond actor for the number of appearances as a character in a franchise. I - personally - wouldn't call that 'whimsical' in terms of commitment to the role. I'm not opposed to recasting him, but I wouldn't mind a short moratorium on the character either.

If the plan was for the character to be done at this point then that is fine. My issue is with people insisting that only 1 actor can play a character.
