This movie cant catch a break. It was supposed to come out two years ago. It kept being pushed back and now Disney was gonna release it this month but Covid_19 said no. Now a lot of Disney movies get new release dates or are being moved to streaming. Guess which one didnt?

In normal times I would agree. But in this special year they can actually make money. All the big summer movies have been postponed. So there arent many major blockbusters planned yet. So if the theaters do re-open and stay open people will want to see new movies. Being one of the few could save Disney/Fox of a loss they normally would have had.

I'm not sure how true this is but supposedly when Disney bought Fox there was an agreement that Disney would release the films fox had in production in theaters.

‘The New Mutants’ Creates Record for Releasing Most No. of Trailers Before The Film linkLOL Why did anybody ever think this film could be adopted into the MCU? Like for real. Why would anybody want that, or think it was an idea that Feige would do anything but laugh at?

Why would anybody want that, or think it was an idea that Feige would do anything but laugh at? And I swear they were doing it just to piss MCU fans off. At this very moment, I am STILL in the middle of a bitter debate with an XMU fan on another board who STILL believes New Mutants will be canonical to the MCU. We made a bet almost 14 months ago - and I'm still waiting to claim my winnings because he thinks we can't know for sure until we see it. If not for the fact that non-payment will result in an instant and permanent ban, I think I'd be out with my sig looking for this guy - to kneecap him at the very least. It's SO fucking annoying. Every single painful delay has held up the resolution of our bet. It's like someone betting on the exact day the world will end, and then it comes, nothing happens, and you magically get an extension. I've tried to ignore this fool, but he makes threads about how New Mutants will connect to the MCU every three or four days. The latest fanfic is that the New Mutants will get lost in Magik's limbo dimension at the end of this movie, and upon attempting to return to the Fox universe, they will find themselves in the MCU instead.

What's the bet BTW? I just don't get why anybody would think they would do that. You can scenarios all day for it to happen, but the question is, what does Disney gain from it? And the answer is nothing. It's not their film, it's not their plan, it's massively delayed, it's starts their mutants out with completes randos. What is the point in connecting them?

And the answer is nothing. It's not their film, it's not their plan, it's massively delayed, it's starts their mutants out with completes randos. What is the point in connecting them? There are Fox X-Men fans who feel confident that New Mutants will not just be a good movie, but that it will be the Fox X-Men Universe's crowning achievement. On that basis, they also feel that Disney will have no choice but to backdoor the New Mutants into the MCU. Even if the film is a multi-billion-dollar hit and a critical darling, it won't change anything. New Mutants may get sequels under those conditions but, it will never logically connect to the MCU. Why would you go through that effort if the franchise somehow turned out to be a hit on its own? The wager itself has a long and spotty story. At first, it was friendly (because my religious upbringing doesn't usually me to gamble for money). After the second or third delay with the film, we ended up settling on a $10 donation to a charity of the other's choosing. Somehow it went from $10 to $20 to $50 with constant goading from the community. The bet is now at $100 (this was a nonsensical double-or-nothing proposition made when it briefly looked like I could be the de facto winner based on a misleading click-bait article). The table stakes are now expulsion from the board over non-payment, and there is somehow no longer a charity involved (although I do plan to donate my winnings if they ever materialize). Personally, I'd be happier if the dude just left. He's the single most delusional Fox X-Men fanboy I've ever met --- and that's saying something.

Oh so it's "deep down I know the franchise I want to be the best isn't all that good" syndrome. Basically the same thing the snydercult is based on but pretend it's all about the sanctity of a director's vision
