This is another Loeb series that got canceled when Feige took over. The only reason it's getting released was because it was too far into production for them to cancel it fully.

I went through a brief robot chicken phase when I was younger. It seemed like back in the early 2000s, that was all anyone was talking about (and Adult Swim content in general). I don't know if it's the same team, but M.O.D.O.K. feels like R.C. with a bigger budget.
My first impression is that it will probably be watchable while feeling a little uninspired. I'm a little tired of running into Oswald or his voice everywhere you go in fandom. He seems to market himself as the ready-made fan of everything. Is there a fandom he doesn't like? He's a hard-working guy but, he's overexposed at this point.
I will give them credit for choosing M.O.D.O.K. and A.I.M.'s "beekeepers" as the perfect choice for satirical commentary on the archetypal self-aggrandizing supervillain. The only more fitting option I can think of would have been the Mandarin.

I guess Hit-Monkey is off the table too now. I know Dazzler & Tigra, Howard the Duck and the resulting combined show The Offenders were canceled too.

Like with Helstrom and MODOK it was far in production before Feige promotion. Hit Monkey will be the last Marvel Loeb show.

Honestly Im not sure what to make of it. Did not see this coming at all I would just rather MODOK's big debut be dignified so movie-goers can take him seriously in the MCU.

It's tough to take a dude with a gigantic head in a floating wheelchair seriously. Even diehards like myself have to work hard to suspend disbelief. That said, there's no reason why he can't be taken seriously and as a bit of a joke. That's the duality of the Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing.

We have twelve years of the MCU proving you can take the weirdest and silliest of concepts seriously if you treat them with the respect they deserve instead of as something to be ridiculed.

We have twelve years of the MCU proving you can take the weirdest and silliest of concepts seriously if you treat them with the respect they deserve instead of as something to be ridiculed. Starting in the early 2000s or thereabouts, M.O.D.O.K. has slowly become an inside joke amongst creators and fans. As a legit fan of the character, I wasn't too keen on this movement to turn M.O.D.O.K. into a jokey mascot, but then I realized it was more out of reverence than ridicule. M.O.D.O.K. is inherently funny, and there's no reason to shy away from or deny that. He can also be taken very seriously at any given moment within the Marvel Universe. So Loeb isn't making M.O.D.O.K. into a joke. He's just tapping into the subculture within the Marvel fandom that already has. M.O.D.O.K. on Hulu is bound for cult-classic status amongst those fans. The fewer seasons it has, the more it will be talked about when it's over. Would I have preferred to see M.O.D.O.K. make a serious in-universe debut within the MCU? Of course. That being said, I don't think this show will seriously undercut his debut when it does happen. Like I said before, fans respect both aspects of the character.

I'd be excited to see how the MCU does Fin Fang Foom, the Skrulls, hell, I'd be giddy for the Cotati. But MODOK on film would be the worst choice since Kristen Stewart.

Oddly, I consider the Mojovision option a viable means of bringing in some multi-verse oddness without breaking the MCU. Like Spiderverse would be a show put together by him for entertainment of his audience rather than a multiversal need.
