Thanks for sharing that. I also hate that sort of thing when it involves animals. Especially if it’s supposed to be “funny”, which I wouldn’t find it to be. None of the animal deaths in this are played for laughs. But they are there. Some of the human deaths are played for laughs. And the movie has lots and lots of blood and gore. If you're squeamish about that kind of stuff I would definitely skip this one.

I am expecting to dislike the violence and probably some of James Gunn’s humor, but beyond that, hopefully I’ll enjoy it.

Just saw it on hbo max and i was super pleased with it. Plan on going out to spend money on it in the theatre this week some time. It will give me the big screen thrill and i know its worth the price of admission. Cant wait. I loved so many of these characters. Robbie is always brilliant as Harley and really knows that character front and back by now...her breakout scene is epic. Up there with Magnetos in X2 for my money. So great. I also read that she actually turned the key with her foot in that shot. Impressive...and kind of hot. Elba is always fantastic. His character, Bloodsport, obviously feels a lot like Smiths Deadshot...but i dont mind that. I thought he stood out plenty here and his broken relationship with his daughter added something extra for me here. Cena is brilliant. I really enjoy Cena as a comedic actor. He's got good timing and he's perfectly physical for these action comedies. Peacemaker as a character is hilarious. Douchey Captain America indeed and his rivalry with Bloodsport, especially during the village invasion scene, was great. Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher was a big surprise for me. I don't know the actress and i dont know the character but both won me over during this movie in spades. She really works as the heart of the film basically being the catalyst for Bloodsport and King Shark becoming better 'people'. That smokey voice and Portugese accent are winners too in my book. I loved her. Stallone as the voice of King Shark....could easily be written off as this movies Groot...but i thought, just like in Groot, there was a lot more happening with this character than just comedic timing. From what i recall he's nothing like his comic book counterpart...but he's great in a goofball and simple minded way. Steals most of his scenes altho i kind of wish they did more with him near the end. Im glad we got to know Flagg also...they didn't flesh his character out at all in the first one and here i really liked him. Polka dot man was cool too...very crazy and with a wacky strong power...but really cool. That actor is everywhere and he always pulls through. TDK was great...Fillion is always a win for me. Weasel was funny. I'd welcome more of this type of film...so long as it leaves room for other 'types' of superhero movies that aren't all the same vibe. Yeah polka dot man and ratcatcher were pleasant surprises

I liked this movie a lot. However, I will wait for a better time to make further comments.

The Suicide Squad is one of the most original and disturbing comic book movies I've ever seen. It's also one of the funniest and most wildly entertaining. There were moments where I couldn't look away and moments where I had to look away. I'm excited to review this film on the Podcast of Champions.

Not much spoiler discussion happening here. What did everyone think of the scene when the first team hit the beach?

The beach scene where team one gets eliminated was pretty wild. Some brutal deaths, especially Captain Boomerang.

It may have been that my expectations were too high but I was dissapointed by the movie. Its not bad or anything but also nothing special. I dont care about blood and gore or nudity for that matter. Its easily Gunn's worst CBM to date.
For more details... Wait for Sakaar's review of The Suicide Squad

I cannot find anyone to go to the theater with me. Everyone thinks it’s a direct sequel and have no interest. I could go alone, but maybe I’ll commit a mortal sin and watch it on demand at home.

The Mortal Kombat movie wasn't very good, in my opinion. It's interesting to see how The Suicide Squad faired against its DCEU day-and-date rivals. To me, it was EASILY better than WW84 and the Snyder Cut (which I did not watch in its entirety). Thanks for sharing.

Indeed. In a few words, what was your overall impression? It should be an interesting panel for the PoC.

I bet that weasel dude is the first to die. Either him or Pete Davidson. Right on the money for both of them. (Post credit scene aside) Well done. [cheers]

Not much spoiler discussion happening here. What did everyone think of the scene when the first team hit the beach? I liked it... and (to a lesser extent) disliked it.... The whole team getting wiped out is hilarious and awesome... but, at this point in the game, I feel is kinda getting to be a cliché. We've kinda seen it before... being done to perfection in Deadpool 2. Still, it was hilarious... and unexpected. It set up the whole "ANYONE CAN DIE" sense of doubt for the rest of the movie.... but... I still thought that could have been done just as easily with the entire cast going out on the main mission and kills happening 1-by-1, randomly: Dirty Dozen-style... which I really wanted to see.

It just missed something. I think Gunn struck gold for the DCEU with The Suicide Squad despite one or two questionable creative choices. Even if his sensibilities offend you, it's impossible to deny the strength and uniqueness of his vision. He delivered one of the best third acts in the genre that I've seen in a long time.

Starro was amazing. So was the Rick Flag and Peacemaker confrontation. Agreed, third act was solid I'll go you one further... Starro is, ironically, one of the most accurately translated villains of the genre in recent memory. That... thing... is brilliantly realized. Gunn takes the material as it is, he adds no adornment, and he eschews any and all pretense. With a few minor (yet horrific) modifications, Starro is lifted right off of the panel. It has no grand design outside of... well... conquest. You have to go all-in when it comes to the sometimes nonsensical nature of the medium. Gunn said, "yeah, this all happening somewhere, right now." His interpretation of the material is bizarre, but it's also truthful in a weird way.

@ghostyghostington yes he (Starro) does in a way I’ll take your word for it. Started it earlier, but I’m very unlikely to finish this movie. It’s now my opinion that James Gunn needs to be kept on a leash. A very very short one.
