And the funny thing is... So far... Ms. Marvel is miles better than Obi-Wan Kenobi. At least to me. And the critics. And the audience score. but I dont think it beats Obi-Wan in viewing numbers Well it should.

And the audience score. but I dont think it beats Obi-Wan in viewing numbers The first episodes of each weren’t even close…if the 11.18 million number I found for Obiwan is correct. But there’s a list of reasons why Ms. Marvel was never going to meet Obiwans numbers.

A new report from analytics firm Samba TV indicates that the recently launched “Ms. Marvel” series, which did well with critics, saw 775,000 U.S. households tuning in to watch the series in its first five days. That’s easily the lowest of any MCU Disney+ series to date, and considerably down on the previous lowest series debut “Hawkeye” which still managed to pull in nearly double that with 1.5 million viewers in its first five days of release according to Samba’s numbers.

Ep 3...Another very enjoyable episode. They moved the plot along a LOT here giving us the grandmothers backstory, info on another dimension, insight into what Kamala really is, establishing the series primary antagonists (i assume), and even closing off some supporting plot threads like Nakias election to the mosque board and Aamirs wedding. The humor is on point around Kamala. She's constantly making fun quips or reactions to things that really keep almost every conversation light. I know its three weeks running but I don't think I can praise Iman Vellani enough for how well she's doing on this show. The Bon Jovi fight sequence was fantastic. Great song choice. I do have one or two negatives tho. The biggest negative is how quickly the djinners? went from 'Hey Kamala can you help us.' to 'We must kill everyone and force Kamala to do what we say.' It seemed to happen so fast that I wonder why they even bothered with the pleasantries in the first place. It lacked the patience for their villainous methods to have any impact. We just met them, they seem nice, ten minutes later theyre evil. It kind of felt rushed. Also the wedding dance was meh. It gave me High School Musical vibes and thats just not my thing, but thats strictly personal preference.
Some cool easter eggs...the flashback in the beginning shows a severed blue arm wearing the bangle. I know Djinn in much folklore have blue skin but since the others seemed to be djinn and theyre not blue then Im wondering if this was a Kree arm. The symbol on the floor in that temple was the Shang Chi Ten Rings symbol. Maybe the bangles are of the same origin as Shang Chis bracelets? Bruno namedropped Selwig. They mention another bangle. Maybe the grandma has it, hence her seeing the visions as well. Noord dimension? I tried finding info on this, maybe im spelling it wrong. I don't know anything about it.
Overall a really fun episode. This series gets better each week for me.

Already caught ep 3. Totally ahead of the game lol.
Loving this show. The culture continues to add a fantastic appeal, this time with the wedding customs, dances, and fatherly talks.
Kamala is getting better, and I don’t know where this history is unfolding exactly, but I like it. It has me really wanting to know what’s up with the grandma and where the other bangle went, etc. I am glad they confirmed there are 2, and I’m definitely invested on where this leads. I love anything that gets into Marvel lore, and this is doing it. Great stuff.

Episode 4...a bit of a step backward for me. Or more aptly, felt like we were treading water a bit.

Episode 4...a bit of a step backward for me. Or more aptly, felt like we were treading water a bit. I did really enjoy that shes not comfortable in her 'home' country. I enjoy seeing her utilize her powers more as well. Didn't like the shaky cam during the final action sequence tho. It always makes me nauseous.

Episode 5...Time and Again...
I enjoyed the backstory with Aisha. It's all stuff you can piece together yourself but it's still nice to see and the actress playing Aisha (Mehwish Hayat) was very beautiful. I don't know anything about Indias history so I have no idea if the information the show presents is accurate or not. But since it's mostly just a backdrop I didn't think about it too much. It seems clear to me now that these villains are about as poorly written as any villain in the MCU. They honestly lack any real depth, aren't particular fun or entertaining and really only seem included in the show so Kamala has someone to fight at times. Theres no explanation why their plan didn't work or whatever with the veil actually destroying them as opposed to sending them home. The leader seems to make a last minute switch to a reasonable person or something. I don't really know what happened there but none of it feels impactful other than Kamron got powers. I like that Kamala has acquired what Im assuming is her outfit by the end. Vest, red scarf, mask. Just get her a yellow lightning bolt/S on her shirt and it completes the look. I don't mind when a show like this has her build her outfit. It's a fun process. I like the AI hunter bots searching for Kamron too. They were featured in the Avengers game where Ms Marvel was the main character. Cliffhanger explosion is ok but I think we all know neither character will die from it. But could the injuries lead to some character twist? Will Bruno finally turn evil like I predicted? Who can say? Overall not my favorite episode. The past two are really lacking the charm the first 3 had for me. Maybe it's just a byproduct of Kamala getting deeper into the villain plot but I wish they couldve kept up that snarky witty charm that she had in the first few episodes. Seems like they sacrificed that in order to develop more serious emotional drama and that just doesn't work for me in a series this short. Hopefully the finale is fun.

Really dug the throwback retrospective into mid century Indian culture. I actually didn’t know much if anything about this so it’s been educational.
I enjoy the overall plot but there’s some key elements I don’t quite get. And maybe it’s upcoming. But when they get stuck in our realm, and how, and what’s up with the supposed second bangle that nobody has been seen with up until this point? And what are the bangles anyway?

Going to be honest, kinda wish this was made into a film. It honestly feels like the writers didn't have much material to work with and are stretching out what they can for 6 episodes.

I think it works fine as a tv show they just aren't playing to their strengths the last few episodes imo. I don't think this would be a movie I'd be happy I went to see, but as a tv show it works...at least I felt the first 3 episodes did. Its been a little shaky since then tho.

Lol.
All those people not watching Ms. Marvel because its a Disney Channel show are missing the fact it has the first hint at mutants. Even the Xmen theme...
Ms. Marvel is my favorite Disney + show to date.
Wanda step down... New queen in town

Just finished the finale. Fun stuff if not much more lighthearted and less detailed than other series, but I really like her. She looks great, nails the roll, and I have several questions. - where is that 2nd bangle? - our first official Xmen reference! What does it mean!!!! ? - and how did she body swap with Carol Danvers?!?!?

My favorite detail of the show so far is the link to the ten rings and Kree. The blue arm the bangle was found on was in a temple with the ten rings logo on the floor. That combined with Carols involvement in finding out what the source of the rings were, along with her switching places with Kamala makes wonder what she’s onto and where the second bangle is. Perhaps Hala?

Kamala was originally supposed to be a mutant in the comics before it was switch to Inhumans. My guess is now that Marvel has access to mutants and the X-Men they decided to make her a Mutant for the MCU. Possibly even change her character in the comics and make her a mutant as well.

I’m not sure what to make of it just get. My biggest questions are around the tripod of loose connections that I’m cery curious how they’ll be related 1. Carol tasked with investigating the ten rings power source at the end of Shang Chi 2. The bangle being recovered in a ten rings temple 3. The bangle being worn by a Kree What is the connection here? IDK. Did the mandarin sever the Kree’s arm? Are the bangles and rings related? And where is the other bangle?

"We've been talking about it for some time,” Amanat states of connecting Kamala’s story to the mythology of mutants. “Here's a really important thing that people do not know – when we were thinking about the character of Kamala back, back, back in the day in 2012, 2013, when [G.] Willow [Wilson, comic book writer] and myself were ideating, we originally wanted to make her a mutant. That was the whole intention, to be able to do that.” In the series, they were able to get back to that initial idea. “Is she a mutant, question mark?” asks Amanat self-reflexively, tip-toeing around the reveal with the Marvel police potentially listening in. “I don't know. I don't know, guys! All I know is that we use the word 'mutation', and that's all I can say.” Whatever it means for Kamala’s own story, it is a hint of bigger things to come in the MCU. “I will say, I think this is opening up doors for a lot of great storytelling, obviously, as a huge fan, um... of the word 'mutation’,” she laughs. “I’m really happy about it.” www.empireonline.com/tv/news/ms-marvel-finale-reveal-sana-amanat-interview-exclusive/

Episode 6...I enjoyed it a lot. I thought the tone got back to what I began appreciating about it. The comedy was better, the dialog was better, some of the plot developments were strange and demanded some jumps in logic or outright suspensions of disbelief but when the show has the lighthearted vibe to it I can jump those hoops no problem. I like that she basically came out to everone who is close to her and it already seems like Jersey City is on her side. I had some issues with the DODC being the bad guys here. I get they were trying to play with government agencies overstepping their bounds but this organization was literally looking in the right place the whole time, was hunting an escaped convinct, used nonlethal weapons until they were presented with less options. I really had a hard time viewing the DODC as villains in this...but as nameless goons for the team to play Home Alone against it was entertaining enough. I am on board for mutants and Im ok with them slow rolling this and teasing them in step by step. I think it presents a lot of potential theories that are always fun to discuss (without expectation). I don't know what the deal is with Carol swapping with Kamala, my guess is that it's to get Kamala to where she needs to be and Carol with her powers can get back to her quick enough. But it leaves me curious enough to see The Marvels.
Overall...I really enjoyed every episode set in New Jersey. I think that was where Kamala most developed her character. I didn't really need the side quest in order to find out what happened to Kamalas great grandmother and it didn't really seem as important to Kamalas story, powers, or history other than the Partition being generally important to Kamalas family. I liked that the show set up Kamalas support and built up her world, even if it were a little sloppily done at times, but I really love the character and the actress portraying her is great. I really look forward to seeing her chemistry when interacting with other characters and I think when she's finally side by side with stern, no nonsense Captain Marvel its going to be a lot of laughs. As a baseline for this character I was entertained...I probably have it at least below Wandavision and Hawkeye...but I'll have to think where I rank it overall.
