Finally finished this. Lots of great ideas gentlemen and I share them all. I’ll just add, and this isn’t a prediction, but if I had to pose a general idea of where I think this might go, is that Kang pops up in a handful of different places through phases 4 and 5, perhaps in wildly different roles. Sometimes as an psychopath, sometimes benevolent, etc. We’ll still have sidebar smaller films. I hope so at least. As you guys were saying they’re important in a varying ways and I’m confident we’ll get them with the Shang Chi’s of the world and many of the shows. We might even get a small scale big bad or someone like a Dr Doom to satisfy an Earth based overarching plot while the Kang stuff sort just simmers for awhile. But then ultimately the Kang stuff could all need to be resolved in Avengers 5 around the end of phase 5. It seems like an appropriate place to do that and long enough to have a multiverse story play out in a variety of ways before moving on from it. If I had to ballpark guess.

Its here for you to enjoy Great episode, gentlemen; I enjoyed the discussion. I'm not as excited for Dune as I have been for some of Villeneuve's other films. The sheer amount of high-profile talent associated with the project is taking me out of it. That's not to say that it looks terrible; it's just challenging for me to suspend disbelief. Most of the headlining talent are pretty well-known "brands." They appear to be acting like themselves or a facsimile of other similar characters they've played before. It's obstructing me from seeing them as the characters from the book. There's also the nagging feeling of getting what you expected from this adaptation. There isn't anything surprising or new. I'm lukewarm on the project based on the marketing; however, I'll still likely see the film. Ironically, Bautista looks the most invested in the film and shows the most range when comparing Dune to his earlier work. As for DC, I think you're both underestimating their ability to be competitive with Marvel for the next three to five years. I don't think they'll stand shoulder to should with the house of ideas, but they will be formidable on their own. Some of their upcoming projects are big question marks like Peacemaker and Green Lantern, but others could generate real heat commercially (and maybe even critically). Black Adam and The Batman are likely no-brainers, while projects like Zatanna and Justice League Dark have sleeper-hit potential written all over them. Is anyone else convinced that James Gunn plans to kill the Suicide Squad down to the proverbial (and possibly literal) last man? I don't even think Harley is safe.

I was thinking about Robie's relationship with the character and how she might want to pack it in sooner rather than later when she finds out that many fans like the Joker/Harley pairing. That doesn't seem like something she's super interested in. So, why not go out with a bang... or a curb stomp... from a starfish... a giant, mind-controlling, alien, starfish... ?

I wouldnt be too worried about that. She can always refuse and do films in between like Bale with Batman

No one blames you for not liking Supergirl ArArArchStanton lol. You should check out CW's Superman and Lois (at least the pilot), similarly with you Grandmaster. That's incredible so far, no joke. Every episode feels cinematic or close to it. Also recommend Krypton, Swamp Thing and Titans Aquaman was awesome right? As for Snyder and the dceu, cant help but bring these up again haha If Dune is successful, I believe it could be the next Star Wars. They have already greenlit a series about the Bene Gesserit Also Im really excited for the upcoming Star Wars Acolyte series. So much potential there

Hey glad you got to check it out. Totally unprepped on my end so it was particularly fun for me. And I hear you on more or less all of this, including my own underestimation of DC’s potential for success. I confess I have taste aversion for them that dates back to my adolescence and I often have Freudian struggles with deciding how much I should let it bleed out. It’s interesting rewatching out DC chat as Ive finally gotten back in the producer chair the past few days and I was quite a bit more tame there. Who’s the real me? IDK

It’s been way way way too long but 11.3 is in the can and 11.4 is nearly finished!!!
Being home is a hell of a thing, and I’ve sped up my process by stopping obsessing over every little frame which I was squandering an unconscionable amount of time on before.
Now I was planning on dropping the rest of the talk all together, but I rediscovered something awesome,,, We did an 11.5 as well ;-)
So stayed tuned I’m confident on tomorrow for 2 episodes (about 50 minutes) of our DC chat. I can tell you I was kinder on that one that I was on Grandmaster and I’s latest impromptu conversation :-)

As promised, the long delayed (sorry) and amazingly still highly relevant parts 3 & 4 of our DC Chat. (The Part 5 finale will be coming soon)
Side Bar; I slimmed down my production process a bit. I had been taking quite a bit of time before going "oooooh, I wonder if I can get Picture A to look like it's moving through Picture B, hummmmmmmm", which was fun, but a lot of it now I either know how to do, and/or I stopped trying to be so damn creative with the whole affair or edit every pixel and syllable. Shout out to Grandmaster for leading the way in not working a full 2 days to get out a 30 minutes video, for real.
Enjoy :-)

It's like oh there's another Batman film, cool. The only complaints will be the usual internet complainers. Not the general audience or casual viewers The CW has a different business model like Taylor mentioned. The ratings are terrible or lower for that network. Supergirl was originally CBS only and then the CW picked it up lol. Television is different. It obviously has its pros and cons like anything else. I dont understand how some seasons are so terrific, which goes to show it can be done and while others being so bad. It was awesome how they did the multiverse imo. It included movie Flash (huge surprise), Lucifer (Fox, now netflix), old Birds of Prey show (WB), Smallville and they even referenced the dc universe shows ie Titans or Doom Patrol. I saw it as a celebration of everything DC. Although not sure if they referenced Krypton or Gotham, cant remember haha. Anyway it was more than I expected Titans, Doom Patrol, Stargirl and Swamp Thing would be the more "high-end" part of DC series imo. The now Superman and Lois series (also cw) would be up there too imo It's ridiculous how many superhero shows the CW has: -Arrow (ended not too long ago) -Black Lightning (recently finished) -Supergirl -Batwoman -Legends of Tomorrow -Flash -Superman and Lois Would like to give a shout out to both cw shows Supernatural and Smallville, 15 and 10 seasons each respectively. None have been able to touch these haha

His ideas are not realistic at all, but that doesn't stop some of them from being incredibly awesome. I'm trying to muscle my connection into letting me see the first three episodes of What If?. Apparently, the screeners have been released. It looks like the free ride is over for me as he is trying to monetize his access. How shamelessly Machiavellian. Anyway, here's MY long-shot What If? theory. I don't think What If? is an "anthology" series at all anymore. I think the episodes are connected and build to a bigger story towards the end. When you watch the trailer for the 10th time, you'll start to see characters from episodes crossing over into other episodes. I think the series is more deeply connected to the multiverse arc of phase four than we thought.

I just want to thank everyone who has participated in any of our Podcasts and Reviews up until now. And for episode 11 particularly our methodical host Lord Death Man , the ever reliable taylorfirst1 , and of course our fearless leader Grandmaster , for putting together this honest and comprehensive chat about the past, present, and future of the DCEU. At long last, part 5 of 5, of our DC Chat is here.

All Phase 4, All the time Lord Death Man is back with our guest Jeff at AQUA EDGE! , Grandmaster , @phistosgauntlet , and myself to discuss Villains, Scarlett Johanson's Lawsuit, the implications of the MCU Multiverse, Mutants, and more. And on a personal note, I didn't say it in the cast, but I strongly suggest following the D+ shows if you haven't crossed that line just yet. They are as relevant as any content the MCU has ever produced and you won't regret it. And as always, your thoughts and participation are highly sought after

IDK when and if theaters will recover long term. It's possible they don't, especially with things ramping back up in terms of virus paranoia, and there is some chance we might see the theater experience scale back to more of a boutique affair in years to come.

Jeff, just killing the game from The MCU's Bleeding Edge. If you have yet to check out his channel, I highly recommend it, and if you have topics you'd like to discuss or have us discuss here on the Podcast Of Champions, let us know and we'll cover it next episode. Don't forget, reviews for The Suicide Squad, What If, Shang Chi, and more are coming up and if you're feeling pumped about any of those and want to be involved, an open seat awaits you.
