It's past time that Hollywood ween itself of its addiction to Chinese box office. Marvel has several films in the pipeline that will not pass the Chinese smoke test. I would like to volunteer for that smoke test. Jayman also. So is that like a state level position or what’s up?

In a interview back in 2013 she referred to China as “a place where there are lies everywhere" and I guess embraced her American citizenship which supposedly pissed off the CCP. This highlights why China is a problem. You can’t be butthurt as a government enough to ban people because they said things you don’t like.

Oddly this is actually a tricky line. It’s the Snowden conversation. What exactly is transparency vs betrayal of sensitive information. Don’t want to litigate that one here but if you were on a battlefield texting the enemy your position, yeah freedom of speech is suddenly losing out to the safety of others. How far can anybody stretch that definition? HUGE grey area.

I wonder if we'll see a young Thanos and/or young Namor in this film?

The reactions to the first Eternals trailer are reminiscent of the responses to the Vol. 1 trailer. No one knows what to make of the Eternals, and everyone is desperately trying to fit them into some category. The best most can manage is some Avengers analog which couldn't be farther from Kirby's intentions.
The idea that they should have intervened in catastrophe X or helped out in story Y is antithetical to their nature. They aren't superheroes.
I think they're finally going to break their non-intervention policy as a result of the blip, which likely directly affected them and involved another Eternal.
I hope this doesn't turn out to be Marvel's version of A Wrinkle in Time.

It was ok but that spaceship design was so unimaginative...

Finally caught this trailer!!!
LOVE IT, LOOKS BEAUTIFUL
And I think the best part is, they spoiled absolutely nothing. It's just a look at it, and that's great. The only real element they tell you about, is that they've intentionally kept from interfering in Earthly events. Like the Watchers in Highlander,,, or something lol. That's great, and all I want to know. Can't wait.

Though I keep having the song 'Eternal Flame' playing in my head (which I'm fully aware is not the song used in the trailer) solely because of the film's title.

I love the Eternals, and I love this trailer, but I suspect this will be Marvel Studio's first legit failure critically and possibly even financially. Critics will likely want to punish the film for making a grab at big ideas, and "the base" will likely be disappointed at the romantic angle. I see it attaining the status of an underappreciated treasure in the Marvel canon.

I think that’s a relatively safe win for the fans at least, so depending on how well they sell whatever big ideas they're approaching, combined with the fresh style, I’m quite a bit more optimistic on this.

I think that’s a relatively safe win for the fans at least, so depending on how well they sell whatever big ideas they're approaching, combined with the fresh style, I’m quite a bit more optimistic on this. Kirby created Eternals in a vacuum. The original series intentionally had no connections to the Marvel Universe as a whole whatsoever. He purposefully avoided references and crossovers with popular characters like Captain America, Iron Man and Spider-Man. Kirby wanted to create a new universe with new origins and a new premise. (He eventually is pressured into featuring the Hulk in Eternals, but he works around this editorial mandate in a humorous way). Despite being integrated into the mainstream Marvel Universe, later on, Eternals still feels like it has always been separate. Kirby wanted to explore ideas surrounding the origins of man, human evolution, and what it would be like to confront an unfathomable alien intelligence. Kirby does lean into the tropes of the day to sell issues, but he was aiming to elevate the genre. I think that might be too much for people who generally go to see Marvel movies for the death-defying acrobatics. I could be wrong, but Eternals looks so subdued that it might be hard to latch onto. I think the film will be good, though I'm just not so certain about the audience and critical response.

I agree with Lord Death Man. This movie looks like its made to win the Oscar for best movie. But usually those movies are not for everybody. However.... Marvel Studios will draw a crowd anyway. And I think the critical acclaim will be high.

The teaser gives me the impression the Eternals are similar to Prof Tolkien's Valar, but more likeable and with less disdain for humans. Part of me wants the movie to be as unique as the teaser seems to be. Yet if it is, it won't appeal to normies and I won't get a sequel.

This might be the series that proves that. I fully agree. If there's one big story they want to tell, there's no need to invent reasons to keep them popping up if it's simply not what their mission is. Makes me wonder what the cast thinks of their future. As in, do they think they signed on for sequels and cameo appearances in other films? I'd say it's likely one of them sticks around for a longer period, even if the rest of the characters have no interest in "interfering"

I agree with Arch essentially about this film and I came back and watched the trailer twice more after initially seeing it, before I started to react to it. So I am trying to give it a chance but I think the trailer is dull and the end scene where they are all sitting at the table eating or whatever just falls down. Its not funny, its a stupid, flat scene. I wish they would have showed some full images of Kit Harrington as Black Knight. He's the character im most interested in seeing in the film and he's not even one of the Eternals. I think that for people who dont have extensive comic book knowledge and are just strictly MCU fans this trailer tells them almost absolutely nothing about the story, who the characters are, who the villain( villains) is, and there's freaking 17 of them so how the hell are they going to develop these characters with any sort of complete, individual arc, in this film in 2 and a half hours? I think some of the wide, more expansive shots are beautiful and I think this movie will probably be visually appealing with clearly dynamic cinematography. However if that stupid final scene that isnt funny is any indication of what type of movie we are getting from Chloe Zhao then it will end up being a serious waste of acting talent since they honestly do have a talented cast. You know that scene from Tropic Thunder where RDJ is like " you can't go full retard man"? Well you cant go full blown SJW with a Marvel film, or I will skip the next Eternals film.

I wasnt a huge fan of the end scene either, trying to mimic the Avengers. Sure, there are woke elements but I believe it will be kept to a minimum. Marvel does prioritize the story first but then again there was the forced politics in FAWS. Hard to tell really They are probably saving Black Knight for the second, third trailer or perhaps even the film itself Well look at the X-men (hit or miss) but I understand your concerns time-wise. Considering this is Feige, I believe most of the characters will get a chance to shine
