Hes right. This idea that a director who lost the studio hundreds of millions by producing divisive films, then somehow deserves to complete his vision, is pretty much ridiculous. I’m happy for those who want this and I hope they enjoy it, but whether it worked or not, this is one the silliest things I’ve ever seen. Oh well. I'm still gonna watch it. Me too. I’m morbidly curious

Because it's stupid. It's living in the past, and it doesn't accomplish anything. All this is doing is wasting resources that could be used on something actually worthwhile. All this has done is ensured an endless line of "Release the [X] Cut" movements from now until eternity each and every time a film doesn't work out the way people wanted, and it was annoying enough once. And seriously, Snyder does not deserve to have this happen. Neither do his fans. I'm guessing you said the same thing about the extra Endgame material? You were there when I said that was pointless, too.

I don't appreciate that you just tried to corner me with the "Endgame" statement or the implication in it. Okay, man i apologize, lets just drop it. I have told you a million times, I do not want to fight with you.

That's cool... right? We'll see. At this point, I fully foresee a tidal wave of #ReleaseTheXCut movements coming, whether or not they're warranted or deserved, and they will be ceaseless in hammering film companies regardless of what happened behind the scenes. At the end of the day, I don't believe humankind is well-behaved enough to know when to pick it's battles. Those fans who just got what they wanted happen to be harassing Joss Whedon right now. Instead of just being happy that they got their cut of the film, they feel the need to scapegoat the man in the trial of public opinion while the lacking the awareness to know that Warner Bros is actually the party to blame for the theatrical cut. So, yeah, don't ask me to be happy for them.

I saw Joss Whedon was trending, and sighed deeply, knowing exactly why, but I went to check it out, anyway. And yep, there was a flamewar blazing from horizon to horizon.

Im happy for the normal fans. And there are a lot of normal Releasethesnydercutfans out there. But part of that fandom have been harrassing Joss Whedon, Patty Jenkins, Matt Reeves, Robert Pattinson, AT&T, Warner Brothers and others to an extend that is beyond toxic. And because of those fans I actually share the fears of Arch and WR. This could very well elevate toxic fandom to a new level. What's next? Prequel fans demanding the Lucas cut for the sequels?
In my opinion creators should have absolute freedom to make what they want to make. You either like that or not. And that is also true for sequels. If you love Iron Man you dont need to love Iron Man 2. Its not that when you are a fan you have to like everything that is being done next. That doesnt take away from your initial fandom. It works the other way too. Creators shouldnt have to listen to fans just to keep them around. People will either like it or dislike it so why bother listening? Just do what you want to do .
Back to the Snyder Cut. Zack Snyder experienced an enormous tragedy in his personal life which caused him not being able to finish his film. Im really happy for the man that he now gets to do that. I hope its good.

That's cool... right? Theres no big downside IMO, outside of the potential that every group will now think endless protests work. I’m fine that they get to see it and Zach gets to do his thing and all that I’m just puzzled by the concept of wanting to see more of what was a rather terrible series and how HBO views spending this much $ on it as a good business decision. I just don’t think many of the people who wanted this are going to sign up for long term service just for this. Maybe I’m wrong though. I’m curious to find out.

Lol this comment on the net. "I won’t even consider subscribing to HBO Max until they releases the Sonnenfeld cut of Wild Wild West."

The thing about creative freedom is that things aren’t free and as a creator you’re an employee.
The Sistine chapel was a commission. As Richard Dawkins once said, “We’ll never know the ceiling Michael Angelo might have painted if he had been commissioned to paint the museum of science.”
The point is you have all the creative freedom you want, until you’re being paid. At that point you can certainty persuade your employer with your vision and expertise, but your freedom is limited by your ability to satisfy them.

I don't recall hearing Whedon being fired. I know that it was reported that there was a lot of behind the scenes drama between Feige and Ike during filming of AoU and Whedon was burned out by the end of filming.

As I understood it Whedon and Marvel parted because Whedon was tired after Ultron and didnt want to take on Infinity War Part I and II. He even quit twitter for a while. That Marvel wasnt too sad about it is another story. But he wasnt fired.
DisGrace's hatred for Marvel strikes again.

There's more hype for the Snyder cut than the new Pattinson Batman. And recent DCEU movies have been garbage - Shazam and BoP sucked. Suicide Squad 2 and WW84 may be good but WB needs its big 2 hitters back together on screen.

Good to hear from you. This is actually part of my point. SJL just overshadows anything they’re doing to move forward by going backwards. I just don’t know if that’s really a good idea, but here we are. 84 I’ve got some thoughts about. I really don’t think WW is as well regarded as some thing, and one thing I thought was telling is that if you got look at trailer views for Black Widow and 84, Widow nearly doubles Diana. That’s actually a worthy indicator of what the interest level is.

I guess you could look at it as a backwards step for sure. But DC right now doesn;t have a very exciting future in terms of their movie universe. Aside from Joker (which is an offshoot anyway), the only movie thats done really well is Aquaman, which is a direct continuation of JL. People didn't really care for Shazam or Birds or Prey. Bringing back the Justice League with Aquaman, WW alongside the big 2 may be a necessary step to take back in order to go forward. I have 0 interest in Matt Reeves' The Batman because I know it's just going to be another Batman solo where he's in Gotham fighting usual villains. Something we've seen a thosuand times. And I don't think Pattinson is a good fit. I'd rather see Ben Affleck back in a wider universe interacting with other iconic DC heroes. If SJL turns out good then we could be going back to the JL universe.
WW84 I'm not feeling either. Steve Trevor coming back, in whatever form, is so cheap that it ruins the first movie and kills any sense of danger. That's why I don't want to see Tony Stark back in a future MCU movie either. As for trailer views I don't put much notice on them but it's interesting that the view count is almost double. I wudda expected it to be closer.

Yeah, cheers to all of that. I'll tell you this, I'm no DC guy as everybody knows, but if somehow Snyder is able to forge a respectable version of this film, and by some miracle it puts everything in place, lures Batfleck back into the fold, and future directors are able to take that in an exciting new direction,,, well I'd have to admit that would probably be the biggest cinematic comeback I've ever heard of.
