I'm going to use this thread to post random TV related news, info, and observations. Everyone can feel free to post TV stuff here.
1st item:
'Only Murders in the Building" is only 3 episodes into season 2 but HULU has just announced renewal for season 3. If you haven't watched this show it is a quirky well written mystery with a stellar cast.

In May The "Magnum PI" remake was cancelled by CBS after 4 seasons (22 eps each). Recently NBC picked up the show but it has signed on for 2 seasons of 10 episodes each. My guess is we will see it hit the air on NBC with new episodes sometime after the new year.

Though I will say I did very much enjoy the updated Hawaii 5-0 version better than I did the original. I know I am in the minority on that one and usually I prefer the classics.

I watch the SWAT remake for the action scenes but the show has a lot of issues so I have been thinking about dropping it.

Some of the actual cases are good but the show wastes way too much time on side stories involving the other characters and relationship stuff. I have the first three seasons on DVD which are in the queue to be watched among my many other unwatched DVDs/Blu-rays. I imagine I'll get to it sometime (hopefully this year). Out of all the shows that got cancelled during the 'culling' this year...I'm somewhat surprised that was the one that got 'saved'. Oh well, at least I have plenty of the show to look forward to watching. I'm pretty easygoing when it comes to 'relationship stuff' in shows. So long as it's not super-annoying, I can put up with it.

On the subject of remakes, the CW has a weird track record. They do a lot of "remake in name only stuff" with mixed results. For example: The "Beauty and the Beast" remake was nothing like the original but it was a decent show The "Charmed" remake was somewhat close to the original but it was a sucky show The "Walker" remake is nothing like the classic original and it sucks The "Kung Fu" remake is nothing like the original but it is a pretty good show. Chalice_Of_Evil you may want to check it out sometime. I never watched "Roswell" or the remake so I can't comment on those. Technically "The Flash" can be called a remake and it's a good show, at least it was at some point.

One person thought the CW network was a money laundering scheme as their ratings are terrible lol. He does have a point

I watched the first season of the original Charmed, started the second season...and couldn't take it anymore. Maybe because I disliked that show so much, I didn't have any attachment to it and therefore could view the new version as its own thing. Amazingly, I've stuck with it thus far (currently watching Season 3 on TV where I am). Unfortunately, it delivers every 'message' it has to make with a sledgehammer. I don't think the writers know what 'subtlety' is, and yet...I keep watching. I watched the first season of the Walker remake starring JPad from SPN. I didn't hate it...but it wasn't that great either. I'll probably check out Season, though (and will definitely check out the spin-off starring Katherine McNamara). I got the first season of the Kung Fu remake on DVD and felt pretty much the same way about it as I did the Walker remake. I imagine I'll check out the second season of it too whenever it's released here on DVD. I watched both the original Roswell and the first season of the remake ( Roswell, New Mexico). There were things I liked and disliked about both version. Annoyingly, it appears they're never going to bother releasing the other seasons of the remake on DVD here.

In the wake of yesterday’s Emmy nominations, HBO Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys spoke with THR. He discussed what’s coming next for the premium cabler, and what could be up for nominations this time next year.
First up, he confirms the TV series adaptation of “The Last of Us” will arrive in early 2023 and he has “nothing to report on the Jon Snow development,” while no decision has been made as yet regarding the fifth season of “Westworld”.
While they haven’t announced dates yet, he says he imagines that the second season of “The White Lotus,” the third season of “Hacks,” and the fourth seasons of both “Barry” and “Succession” will all be within next year’s Emmy eligibility window (ie. before May 2023).
HBO racked up an impressive 140 nominations across 24 shows yesterday, the highest of any outlet.

It's TV trivia time on TTN!
Did you know that the longest running live action sitcom, by # of eps, in TV history is "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" with 14 seasons and 435 episodes?
It is followed by "My Three Sons" with 12 seasons and 380 episodes.

My three sons I used to watch and figured they had a run like that because we saw the kids grow up and become teenagers

Those early seasons were in black and white and often did not get syndicated with the color eps so many people who only watched in reruns, were not even aware of them or that Ernie was not there from the beginning. That's also the same time that Bub was replaced by Uncle Charlie.

When they first were putting it on nick at nite in the 80's I think I first saw the early episodes with Mike and Bub. Before that, I never knew about the early episodes either.

Resident Alien has been renewed for season 3 on SyFy. This is by far the best thing that's been on SyFy in years. The second half of season 2 starts on 10 August.

Despite season 1 ending with a dud I’m glad they’re committing to a few seasons for this one. Hopefully they are given time to figure their problems out. I’ve read like 10 of the wheel of time books and they’re hit and miss but the world is full of potentially entertaining television.
