I wasn't quite old enough for this one, but I can only imagine. I grew up seeing pictures of people camped out in lines, and I can only compare it to modern cultural event films. If I could time travel, this would be a stop for me for sure.

If I could time travel, this would be a stop for me for sure. i have discussed this with WR in the past, we basically came to the conclusion that there is no modern day comparison the closest one i could think of was TITANIC ( which was still sold out months into it's release )

They don’t compare? i don't think so, there are several differences, the main one being that SW and TITANIC both got "bigger" the longer they were in theaters ( due to both word of mouth and repeat attendance )
