Weird question, but I wonder what you guys would do in this scenario. Also, Sklazmark rant time.
So, I’ve been seeing allergist for mystery hives. She doesn’t have the best bedside manner and tends to talk over patients, but she’s not the worst dr. I’ve ever had.
Today my mother went to see her (for a different reason). Mom says doc got real nasty and belligerent, even mocking her. After doc starts screaming at her, Mom picks up her stuff and walks out.
And I’m seeing this doc tomorrow.
What would you guys do? I’ve been assured that docs aren’t allowed even to mention they saw members of same family—but I’ve definitely had docs who’ve done that. I don’t want to pay this doc a $40 copay anymore, but I still have all the labs she ordered to go over.
As of now I still have the appt. and probably will go…

As Darth said, I would go to get results and then change docs if you feel uncomfortable.

Thanks, guys. Good news is, these fears were all for naught. She was fine with me. Snippy and talks way too much over patients, but fine. Bad news is, I’m going to be getting lots more tests. Bloodwork came back with small amounts of autoimmune antibodies. Doc said that healthy people may have autoimmune antibodies without having an autoimmune condition but that I need to follow up anyway with her, primary care, and rheumatologist. Jesusmaryandjoseph. She also said there’s a good chance of my having had corona in Feb. (as I and AQUA JAR!™ suspected) despite coming back negative for COVID antibodies, based on her experience with COVID-positive patients. First doctor to tell me that. My PCP is usually rational and reluctant to prescribe medication or surgery unless absolutely necessary, so I’m going to go over with him first. And apparently my numbers are so low that, whatever it is, it’s just something to watch, not to be immediately concerned about. But, yeah, I’m still worried.

I definitely understand how scary and stressful health stuff can be. Keep us posted.

Thanks, Ack. Yeah, I’m getting scared and stressed by the news, even though they’re saying I shouldn’t be. Which is all to say I can’t wait to talk to my primary.

The worst part of these situations is that you have to wait until the next appointment. Do you have one of those online “my chart” accounts? You could maybe PM your primary and get some early reassurance.

I could shoot him an email, but he’s probably going to have to go over the bloodwork first.

It may tell you how lousy a week I’ve been having that my highlight was seeing my doctor yesterday!
He was as calm and reassuring as ever, and he said I shouldn’t worry so much about the antinuclear antibodies. He didn’t see anything in my bloodwork or in checking me that seemed to indicate an autoimmune condition to him, and he thinks the antibodies are just one of those quirks that don’t mean much of anything. He prescribed this stronger antihistamine to test the hives to see if they’re allergy-related. And he gave me a few other good pieces of medical news—and shook my hand at the end, a small thing that means so much in these corona-bedeviled times—so it was a good, good visit.

Well, Ill be getting my Pfizer vaccine (first dose) finally. Didnt want the other one. Amazed that I could get it on such short notice. Lucky I rang around. A place near Sydney Olympic Park pretty much had slots within a few hours notice. You make an online booking and respond to a questionnaire. Who knows might get a call about a change in time lol. Cant really believe it as so many places are full, some for a month or two

It only lasts a day or two though.

Although who knows? Anything can happen. Im not as fit lately lol. Need to exercise a bit more

So I just found out yesterday a certain level of my work building had tested positive for covid. Sigh...
My level was deemed as not close contact, fine. Although not casual contact either?.. Hmm we use the same lift?? Also other levels were deemed as a contact. Friggin annoying. Going to get tested just in case for peace of mind. Just wanted to relax on the weekend, not worry about this crap
Anyone still need to wear masks in your respective areas?
Btw @ghostyghostington others have told me about the second dose and harder side effects. Hmm guess Ill see what happens

I don’t like wearing them, but I do feel safer. In fact, I just saw SHANG CHI and kept my mask on for most of the movie.

I did take the mask down a few times to breathe. I mean- I am vaccinated so I’m not too worried about getting sick.

So I got my second jab now and yes there were worse side effects. Chills and general feeling like crap-itis for a day and that was it.
Was due for it in October but my workplace was offering it. At the moment we're all getting tested each morn with rapid antigen tests. About a week now. First day was disastrous and by the time I was done, 2hrs had expired-only one nurse available lol

Better vax up. That Regelian-19 virus is wrecking havoc in the Delta Quadrant. But it might make me sick. My cousin's tal-shaya instructor on Vulcan heard her V'tosh ka'tur say that the Syrrannite next door got swollen ears from it. But m'freedoms. Damn it. I don't know why everyone is being such a nancy about it.

So, I’m sick right now (102 fever—again!), and I was convinced I had COVID because, well, yeah. So I went to the dr. yesterday and the nurse practitioner says it’s probably not COVID and is probably strep throat. And, yup, strep test comes back positive. (She sent out a COVID test too just in case, but she said it’s probably not both.)
Which is good, because strep is bacterial and I’m on amoxicillin for it, and the amoxicillin seems to be working. But still—strep? I haven’t have that since I was a little kid! So weird.

Good news is, fever’s gone down without tylenol from 102 this morning to 100. Apparently strep is going around in adults, at least around me. No idea if it’s a new strain or what.

So… COVID test came back positive too. Oof. No COVID symptoms, knock on wood, though. Dr. said it may be extremely mild case and most of my symptoms are strep-related. Still…oof. And I was so happy because I was getting better!
