Don’t want to bore everyone with my woes, but just to fill everyone in:
Was extremely sick in Feb. with flu symptoms but kept coming back negative for flu, so had test today.
Results 2-5 days, will update thread...

How'd you get access to a test? And how can I get in on that action?

How'd you get access to a test? And how can I get in on that action? They just started doing them in my area, at an urgent care center. My PCP had recommended I get the test because I had those symptoms then. If you Google antibody test, there may be place near you. Oddly enough, nurse practitioner said they’ve gotten people coming in claiming to have it from January of last year—not sure if they tested positive, but if so it’s been here much longer than we think.

I would react exactly the same. But Im actually a bit scared of this virus. Its no secret Im heavily obese and not in the best of conditions. So I am actively trying to avoid this virus well.. like the plague. Because Im not so sure that I survive it if I do get it. But good to read you are fine.

Now this is weird:
Just got results back. Negative.
So I didn’t have COVID-19 in February. Sorta good news—but it means I don’t have any kind of immunity. And what kind of crazy virus did I have?

So, weird story.
I’m still getting symptoms from this, which I had back in February 2020. I get a flareup of hives almost every day since I’ve had it, and since this summer I’ve had these painful red bumps on my toes. I went to the podiatrist today and he recommended a COVID test, saying it could be “COVID toes” and my only symptom. Had a test and, like my antibody test in May, it’s negative. Amen to that, but I’m still 99% convinced I had it last Feb. and lost the antibodies for some reason, and these are just lasting symptoms.

I have not announced this publicly until now, but my gf and I both had it ( possibly more than once ) and my very fist breathing problem was, you guessed it, last march.

The interesting thing is, the "immunity" supposedly last for 3 to 4 months, and sure enough, our symptoms have re-occurred on that exact same time frame ( march / july / november / february )

Sounds like the doctor agrees that it’s probably COVID? Hopefully you get over it soon. On a related note, I literally just managed to sign my mom and grandma up for vaccine appointments! The process was really frustrating.

July was the "worst" incidence, where we both had the full blown illness, so I guess we got the biggest "dose" of viruses that time.

Yikes. Sorry to hear that, Salz. Sounds like the doctor agrees that it’s probably COVID? Hopefully you get over it soon. Thanks—it’s not really a big deal, I just wish some doctor knew what these bumps and hives are. As for COVID, I’ve asked every doctor I’ve seen if they think I had it, and they don’t want to commit themselves, especially as I tested negative for antibodies. Basically all I know is that I don’t have it now, which I knew before I got tested. Did I have it last February and I lost the antibodies between Feb. and May—probably because you do lose them in 3-4 months, as AQUA JAR!™ said? I think so, but no doctor has said those words to me.Oh, that’s great news! Sorry to hear the process was such a mess, though. My grandmother’s a bit worried to take the vaccine, but she seems even more scared of the virus, and she’s say she probably will take it soon.

Going through a bit of a rough patch right now family-wise, but since we were talking about vaccines here I just wanted to report some good news: both my father and my grandmother have gotten the first dose of the vaccine and scheduled for the second dose. Dad had a headache after it, but now he’s OK; my grandma had no symptoms at all. My grandma has been terrified of the virus for so many months and she’s dealing with a lot on top of that, so I’m hoping that on top of the obvious protection against the virus the vaccine also makes her feel a bit better.

The saga continues! I went to an allergist Monday who said they were definitely hives—which I already knew. She also did an “ice cube test” and said I don’t have hives induced by cold, even though I know (and told her) the cold brings on the hives. Next time I see her I’m asking how that’s possible. I’m scheduled for extensive bloodwork Saturday. Oy. The worst thing about them isn’t the bumps/wheals, it’s the prickliness that goes along with them. As if someone is putting cactus needles under my skin. It’s awful, and it’s been a year and four months of this now. The closest thing to an explanation I’ve found was when a dermatologist said they could be caused by increased histamine levels in response to viral fat cells still stuck in my body from February’s mystery virus. No one else has offered any kind of explanation. So that’s been my medical fun this week. How about you guys?
