This show would rank higher for me if not for the frequent/annoying time jumps.
Patty Considine and Matt Smith are - by far - the show's mvps. Everyone else is kind of meh.

I get why they do the time jumps. However I do agree it takes some getting used to. Im not too annoyed by it. I love the intrigue of this show.

The intrigue keeps me coming back, but it's the "dance of the dragons" that I'm waiting for… the all-out Targaryen civil war from the source material. It will be brutal. The rest is just a preamble.

I changed my opinion this week. Quite some time after I voted. It's a good thing you didn't lock the poll and are able to change your vote now to reflect your new opinion.

Terrific episode. So the war begins. That ending..in typical Game of Thrones fashion lol..I can now overlook Tarantino's input

For me, number nine is the first weak episode of House of the Dragon. The "race against time" felt forced AF. It might have been a total waste if not for the final scene.

…and, for the record, House of The Dragon is one of the ugliest-looking shows in the streaming landscape. A single frame of The Rings of Power puts the whole of season one to shame visually. And it's not about different approaches; the lighting and color grading are often terrible in House of The Dragon.

I don't think it's meant to be all pretty & shiny. That's the point.

And it's not about different approaches; the lighting and color grading are often terrible in House of The Dragon. Westeros is an ugly world to live in. I don't think it's meant to be all pretty & shiny. That's the point. Indeed… And, since I went through the trouble of reading a few of the books some years ago, I'm pleased to share with you that Westeros is a continent (not a "world"), and not all of it is pervasively ugly. This makes sense as it houses at least 7 distinct jurisdictions. I recall the terrain of Westeros often being described as 'varied' and 'mountainous.' I don't recall it ever being described as "ugly" in its totality, but I admit to not reading every book in the series. Suppose you were referring to King's Landing - in that case, that is a dirty and crowded place, as described by Martin, but this hardly explains why every other locale in the show outside of King's Landing is wrapped in perpetual, muddy green shadow and eternal darkness. Driftmark is an island described as green and fertile - yet it also looks ashen and dilapidated in the show. You're perfectly welcome to defend the show's aesthetic, as far as I am concerned. Still, fans and critics have complained about the show's poor color grading and overly dark cinematography. www.whathifi.com/features/theres-no-excuse-for-house-of-the-dragons-darkness-problemwww.slashfilm.com/1036591/why-house-of-the-dragons-nighttime-scenes-look-like-crap/www.inverse.com/entertainment/house-of-the-dragon-episode-7-darkwww.businessinsider.com/youtuber-measures-how-dark-house-of-the-dragon-episode-brightness-2022-10And there's hardly any excuse for a multimillion-dollar fantasy epic to declare war on basic lighting and contrast. Game of Thrones didn't.

Gotta say Im a bit disappointed by Ser Cristan. Im also convinced he's a vampire Anyway, I get why he's indebted to Alicent but to go all the way and not question anything at all is a bit weird imo. Even the commander wanted no part of it. I guess he squashed his idealism and morality huh?

Finale was good. The ending was a little underwhelming though imo. Grave consequences next season. Cant wait

And it's not about different approaches; the lighting and color grading are often terrible in House of The Dragon. It’s more reflective of the early medieval time period. Without the dragons and weird geography, this is a standard royalty soap opera. Well done, but nothing special. Although we know there’s been true human progress since that era, there doesn’t seem to be any on their planet.

Just a reminder that the Tales of Dunk and Egg are an excellent read for any fan of Westeros.
