I have to admit…I don’t find Harrison Fords apathy toward the projects he’s working on all that endearing. A lot may enjoy that level of honesty but if he’s actually as disinterested as he is portrayed to be then I don’t find it commendable that he’d take these jobs. He’s like 90…if he doesn’t want this gig I’m sure he could find whatever passion project his heart desires.

It's possible to be good at your craft without having a surplus of passion for it. The idea that you must be passionate about what you do is a Western construct that really amounts to marketing yourself to secure work. Passion helps, but expertise and experience get the job done in the end. What you typically observe in actors that look like "passion" is just rebadged marketing and promotion for their projects. Ford's lack of "passion" and "apathy" is off-putting, but what he lacks in enthusiasm is easily made up for in competency. Ford is one of, if not the most competent actor in Hollywood. He can summon the required emotions needed to portray his characters and, in some cases, even surprise his audience with greater depth and charm than you might typically expect from him. He's never been an Oscar-bait, Shakespearan-style method actor. I'm not in love with Ford as a person but as a dependable star, he's a one of a kind. A lot of younger actors should take lessons from him.

I guess at the age of 80 I would hope anyone would do the things they ‘want’ to do. Ford is undoubtedly in a position to do just that…whether that’s acting in Marvel movies, woodworking in the garage or just taking more naps. As someone I assume doesn’t need the money and doesn’t appear to enjoy the hassle or the projects half the time…I just wonder why he’s even agreeing to do it at all. I don’t doubt his history as an actor as he’s been the star of plenty of my favorites. But I do kind of doubt him moving forward as an 80yr old who doesn’t seem to care. I’ll be pleasantly surprise if Ford is the highlight of whatever movie he’s coming into.

I’ll be pleasantly surprise if Ford is the highlight of whatever movie he’s coming into. Based on his body of work, I'm willing to give Ford some latitude in his choice to be a nonconformist. So much of our interactions with the Hollywood elite are meaningless saccharine soundbites and feigned enthusiasm. He's earned the right to be as cantankerous as he wants in my book. I could care less about his disposition or motivations as long as he continues to do great work. I respect his directness and unwillingness to placate nerd fantasies. His reasons for continuing to work, be they financial or otherwise, are his own. As much as I may be curious, he doesn't need to justify himself to me or anyone else. Most of the resistance to Ford's seeming disinterest in his work comes from his geekier fans. We nerds rely too much on spreading "hype" like a communicable disease. Ford is the antithesis of that, and I, for one, find it refreshing, TBH. It's all just make-believe, and he knows it. If you ask me, I think his attitude comes from the fact that he is acutely aware that he's not curing cancer or solving world hunger. He's just trying to turn a buck. Nothing wrong with that. I was initially offended and confused by his attitude. Still, now I see that, within ethical and moral limitations, it's not my place to put any of my expectations of conduct on the great Harrison Ford.

…the irony being that if they did this to avoid derision from the far right (i.e., 'look ma, they're trying to make us all do crimes, eat sushi, turn gay and be black'), they've likely made the situation far worse.

It's either a reference to Shakespeare or Huxley. In the case of the latter, I'm expecting a world state where everyone drives a Ford - in a film starring Harrison Ford.
It would be weird and funny if someone just made a mistake and the media ran with it.

Apparently some fans are speculating that Ford's tattered shorts are a sign he will morph into Red Hulk.

Apparently some fans are speculating that Ford's tattered shorts are a sign he will morph into Red Hulk. I don't think this film needs a Hulk, but I won't complain if we get one - especially seeing as how getting a new Hulk solo film is not in the cards.

Brave New World is the new title Hmm, it's not a bad title but I think NWO sounds more intriguing. Me too. Brave New Order sounds optimistic. New World Order gives the impression there is something to oppose. Something that's risen since the last time that needs to be stopped.

I'm Jewish and I don't get antisemitism from the title. That's not to say the association isn't out there. I tend to associate New World Order as a phrase with the Illuminati, Freemasonry, shadow governments and cabals, etc. Hydra seemed all about that new world order.
I'm not married to either title but the fact they changed it from one to the other seems like pulling punches.

Interesting that they're willing to recast Ross but not T'Challa. Black privilege I love that they’ve recast Ross and proceeded on and Ford is great. Never expected it. But it absolutely disgusts me that they didn’t recast T’Challa. It just proves that was a horrible weak choice.

Not me. Sometimes things just gotta be let go. His performance and the movie were too iconic to be set in the same world with a different actor.
Frankly I think they should have let Ross die too along with William Hurt. He doesn't necessarily need a song and dance routine to explain his death. Just bring in Harrison Ford as a new character. Surely there's gotta be some extra military personnel in the comics, a right-hand man to Ross that could show up in the movies and be Harrison Ford.

On the topic of General Ross, while I'm not opposed to the idea of Harrison Ford stepping into a new role within the MCU, it's worth noting that in the comics, Ross does become the Red Hulk. If they're dead set on introducing Red Hulk, it's not unreasonable to have someone else step into the role. I do think Ford, as an actor, would have been better served being introduced as a character he originated. The debate surrounding the future of the 'Black Panther' franchise has become a hot-button issue. In light of the stark polarization among fans, it might be prudent for Marvel to delay another Black Panther installment - indefinitely. It would be almost impossible for any studio to create a follow-up that could universally satisfy all audiences. The two standing films leave a positive legacy behind for the character.

I just completely disagree. Nobody it too iconic. The story comes first and the story should have been told. It’s just lost forever now and I’ll never not see this as weak
