Death by misadventure seems more likely than by old age at this point... Could be a long wait given his generally robust health.

They should just let the franchise end with dignity. No sequel without Spielberg. No unnecessary reboot. Of course, this is Disney we’re talking about so that will never happen.

I'd much rather have an animated series at this rate. Or god forbid, something different. It seems like Disney forgot they have that Jungle Cruise movie coming out soon(?).

Well he's wearing the costume again.
Other set photos show a Nazi train under construction and a Ford doppelganger doing a motorcycle stunt.

Hearing rumors about the MacGuffin possibly being Die Glocke, a mythical Nazi superweapon resembling a giant bell. Conspiracy theories say it was meant as an antigravity device or a time machine.

IDK much about this one, and like most I wasn't a super huge fan of the 4th. But I have to say I'm hoping for a fun last hurrah with Indy. Never thought this one would happen. I never thought the 4th one would happen. So I plan on making the most of it. The first 3 are so great, and nothing can ever change that, so yeah, give me 2 more hours of Indy goodness.

They've got Tomb Raider, literally accomplishing this already. :-) Everybody needs to get in on that reboot. It's a good film. And a sequel is coming.

Harrison Ford injured his shoulder during a fight rehearsal. Isn't that what stuntmen are for?

M. Night Shyamalan had an idea for an Indiana Jones movie. But he's withholding details.

Before the coronavirus got worse and worse, there was quite an uptick in news about a fifth Indiana Jones movie. First that it was not gonna be a reboot and that Spielberg dropped out. And they were talking about James Mangold directing it. The Indiana Jones movies and expanded material are my all time favorite media franchise so yeah, I was more interested than most about this. But now I don't think it will ever happen. Anyone else have thoughts on the matter? Ive been wondering for a long time why they didn’t get a new series going. It has all the makings of an unending James Bond style adventure series. Maybe it didn’t need a film every 2 years, but I could have seen a few Chris Evans, Bradley Cooper types taking on new trilogies.

It has all the makings of an unending James Bond style adventure series. Maybe it didn’t need a film every 2 years, but I could have seen a few Chris Evans, Bradley Cooper types taking on new trilogies. I think it’s the same reason why they didn’t do a Han Solo movie until when they finally did. People just rapidly identify Harrison Ford in the role and for good reason. But...unlike Han Solo, this did have the advantage with there actually were other actors who played the part in some capacity. Whether it be River Phoenix or Sean Patrick Flannery or George Hall. So while a hypothetical recasting may have stirred a ruckus, it wouldn’t had been without precedent. With that out of the way, my only guess is that Spielberg and Lucas just weren’t very interested but didn’t feel like handing it over to someone else just yet. I know that Spielberg said he was uncomfortable using nazis as villains again after he did Schindler’s List;ok so switch it out, Steve, they’re not the only totalitarian regime from that time period. This is all ironic since not only are the Nazis returning but Spielberg isn’t even directing it. I’m not sure what George Lucas’ thoughts were as far as continuing the franchise. Perhaps he was busy with the Star Wars prequels. I know he was the one who rejected the Frank Darabont script for the fourth movie after Spielberg and Ford approved it.

It's such an anemic property. They could do Doc Savage or a million other pulp era stories but they are running this deep into ground-you could find the Well of Souls it's going so deep. I guarantee this movie is going to be a feeb experience even though Mangold is a decent director--but with Disney there--forget it.
Just as a historical footnote. See this image? It's from a 1930s pulp magazine. Hollywood would cry if someone suggested they do a movie with this kind of aesthetic. They would say the blonde hair would probably cause blindness in the audience. That's why Doc Savage was ruined. They saw Ron Ely and freaked out! They had to make into a comedy where the bad guy gets a lobotomy and sings Christmas carols.
