Before the coronavirus got worse and worse, there was quite an uptick in news about a fifth Indiana Jones movie. First that it was not gonna be a reboot and that Spielberg dropped out. And they were talking about James Mangold directing it. The Indiana Jones movies and expanded material are my all time favorite media franchise so yeah, I was more interested than most about this. But now I don't think it will ever happen. Anyone else have thoughts on the matter?

I wish they hadnt made the fourth one. I would have preferred a reboot over that. Ford just isnt the action hero type anymore. He should have played Indie's dad or something in that reboot.

I like the franchise but I agree with Grandmaster. Also stop with the sequelitis, especially with much beloved, established franchises already!

John Carter was great, Jupiter was okish

I was looking forward to it too. But the second Spielberg dropped out i lost interest. Indiana Jones without Ford, Spielberg and Lucas is not Indiana Jones.

I wish they hadnt made the fourth one. Never seen it. You're probably better off that way. This reminds me of an episode of the TV series Chuck. In the fifth season, the character of Morgan Grimes has lost his memory and the character of John Casey gives Morgan the DVDs of the three original Indiana Jones films so that he can reacquaint himself with the series. When Morgan asks if those are the only ones, Casey confirms there are only three movies, pretending Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull doesn't exist (which is what I do).

Recast the role, place it back in the 30's where it belongs and let's see what happens.

As for Jones, I don't understand why James Bond can change every so often but Indy can't.

Well they are JJ movies. I dont expect depth. The best of the three was Beyond and that was (co) written by Simon Pegg. At least that movie felt like Star Trek. I dont know why people feel like that. I would be fine with a recast. Im actually fine with recasts. Except for Pine. I just dont like him in the role. I love Quinto as Spock so its not because its Trek.

Do people want Shia in Indiana Jones?

I didn't mind Shia in the part, but I don't think he'd be interested in returning.

Chris Pratt is mentioned as a possible replacement for Harrison Ford.
TEXT: According to Richtman, Lucasfilm is looking at Pratt to play a younger version of the character. He also claims that Indiana Jones 5 is planning to set up multiple spin-off films as well as a Disney+ series and animated show. While Richtman has given good information in the past, we are certainly surprised to see these Pratt rumors resurface after they were previously debunked. comicbook.com/movies/news/new-indiana-jones-rumor-reasserts-chris-pratts-reboot-involvement/

Disney sure does love to run classic franchises into the ground, I foresee a dozen streaming shows about all the minor characters: a Marion series, a Professor Ravenwood series, a Belloch origin story series. Etc. Ect. And people will eat it all up like pigs at the trough. It worked for Star Wars!
