During their conversation with McQuarrie, the hosts brought up a fan theory that the scuba suit seen in Dead Reckoning's submarine scene could be used to exit the submarine through the missile hatch. McQuarrie coyly responded, saying that "everything that that person is speculating on is certainly something you could do with that suit." Read his full quote below: We came up with this submarine sequence, that then kind of ran away… it took on a life of its own, as things in Mission do, and it became… something of a character in and of itself.
[That fan theory is] interesting. That’s all very fascinating. That sounds like stuff that would be exciting to put in a movie... I would say everything that that person is speculating on is certainly something you could do with that suit. screenrant.com/mission-impossible-7-submarine-stunt-theory-director-response/

He made that look too easy. Are they destroying a perfectly working bike with every take?

While speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference (via Deadline), Bakish claimed "the audience lost their mind" in an early test screening for Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One. The CEO went on to praise the movie and Cruise for his work on the project. Read what Bakish said below: “The movie is insane. It’s a complete thrill ride, and Tom, you know, he’s very good.” screenrant.com/mission-impossible-7-positive-early-reaction-screenings/

Now, a new report from The Guardian claims that Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two's filming has encountered a bit of a setback. The production was reportedly aiming to film at various locations on Svalbard, a protected archipelago between Norway and the North Pole, but local Norwegian authorities denied requests for a planned 40 helicopter landings due to concerns regarding disruptions to local wildlife. While the production was denied permission to film in a number of spots on the archipelago, limited filming in Svalbard in permitted locations is reported to have occurred. screenrant.com/mission-impossible-8-filming-cancelled-arctic/

With the good will he's engendered from Maverick, this is going to make money hand over fist.

With the good will he's engendered from Maverick, this is going to make money hand over fist. Almost certainly. It is a bit surprising none of the earlier ones crossed $1B yet worldwide.

It is a bit surprising, but I think MI has mainly appealed to action junkies, as story development is usually a secondary concern for the franchise. Dead Reckoning holds out the promise of a coherent story as well as the usual collection of death-defying stunts. I respect the franchise, but I've never been a die-hard fan. I usually see MI films for the action, and I gave up paying attention to the stories after the third one. Cruise has also found himself the beneficiary of the culture wars fallout (no pun intended) as his films now garner more conservative patronage.
