I have to agree with others that this just looks like “generic superhero film 37”.

Ironman+Spider-Man+Venom+Superman+Ms.Marvel+Green Lantern+Batman+Power Rangers = Blue Beetle!

Don't give David Zaslav any ideas. Oh, well in that case...🤐 He’s got a sock account on proboards, ya know.

Oh look! The villain is a carbon copy of the hero. That's not a cliche. (sarcasm)

James Gunn confirmed on twitter that Blue Beetle will be a part of his new DC universe. So at least the movie isn’t technically a waste of time.
Now to what capacity he hasn’t said.

I honestly thought it looked like a toy/action figure.

The villain literally looks like a Happy Meal toy. I'm curious why so many fans are upset with the character designs when it's been abundantly clear which demo this film is going for from the outset.

I think he's obliged to say that whether it's true or not or he'll have to face Zaslav's wrath. A better division of work would have been to let Saffran do some cheerleading for these backlogged DCEU movies that still need to come out (and flop).

Don’t get me wrong, knowing Blue Beetle will continue doesn’t move the needle for me at all. It just adds to the already messy transition from DCEU-DCU. I’m hating the lack of clarity in what’s important for the future.

I’m hating the lack of clarity in what’s important for the future. I agree wholeheartedly. I'm generally never embarrassed to tell civilians I'm an avid comic book reader - but Blue Beatle? That's always been a hard sell. Gunn has had a little time to untangle this mess, but he hasn't moved the needle as much as I'd hoped. I'm also feeling a bit alienated from Superman Legacy as it features talent from a generation of actors I am utterly unfamiliar with, and I wonder how characters like Metamorpho and Guy Gardner fit into a film loftily titled Superman Legacy.

It was just ok. Lots of paint by numbers tropes. The humor didn't really work for me. The CGI was good but the action scenes were average. The main character (actor) was good but most of the supporting characters were blah, and a couple of things made no sense.
The box office is going to be an epic flop.

Does it deserve to be the lowest performing DCU/DCEU movie of all time, though? Aquaman 2 is doomed.

(but the sequel is in trouble).

It was just a light breezy movie that might have broke even if they marketed it better, but I guess WB is more willing to take the hit.

Problem is it’s a brand new hero in a DCEU that is in an unclear transition phase during a time when superhero movie interest is on a downswing. IMO, of course.
