If Grandmaster jumped off a cliff… I’m about as far from a bandwagon-follower as you can get. If anything, I lean too much towards opposing the popular viewpoint just because it is popular. That's exactly what a bandwagon-follower would say.

Current tally:Ant-Man - 1 vote Okoye - 1 vote Agent Peggy Carter - 1 vote ( ) Loki - 1 vote Shuri - 2 votes Wong - 2 votes Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel - 2 votes So, it appears we're now in our first THREE-WAY TIE, since three characters all received two votes each. This means you must vote for one of the following three characters (the one who you like the LEAST): Shuri Wong Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel Whoever receives the most votes will be out of the game and then the game will continue as normal with all the remaining characters left to choose from.

Getting to the game late, there was traffic. I'll cast my vote for getting Shuri off the island.

Screw it. I’m gonna mix it up too. Captain Marvel! Honestly, I rewatched it recently having a more negative view from months of hearing people rail against it, and I can't spot any problems with the film or her portrayal. I think Brie's comment about a female reporter generated a snowballed negative that doesn't actually apply to the film.

But compared to most other MCU heroes I think the characterization is a lot weaker. Part of the problem was going with an amnesia story, which meant that we didn’t really get a chance to see who the character really is. And then that was made worse by the time jump into present day. Her only character trait in End Game is arrogance. I wouldn’t necessarily vote her out this soon, but part of the fun of this game is playing it somewhat strategically, or randomly, depending on mood/situation.

Current tally:
Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel - 3 votes
Wong - 2 votes
Shuri - 1 vote
Regarding the character of Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel:
I don't think she's 'arrogant'. She was off saving other planets whilst the remaining Avengers were focused solely on Earth, she took out an ENTIRE SHIP by herself and went toe-to-toe with Thanos, holding her own against him until he cheated with Power Stone (so even if she were a bit 'arrogant', I think she's earned the right to be. And I think if any other character had managed to do what she did, they'd be hailed as 'awesome'), not to mention she saved Tony's arse at the start of Avengers: Endgame. Speaking of Tony...he's the walking embodiment of 'arrogant', but I don't see anyone holding that against him.
This^ is just my personal take on the Captain Marvel character. If you disagree, that's okay.

Wong. He's a comic classic, but a bit redundant in the MCU.

That one line where she basically says “you all failed because I wasn’t there” is so pompous and arrogant that it makes me roll my eyes at her. In their defense those scenes were written and filmed before her solo movie! But that’s on them for doing it that way. Going forward I expect the character to improve.

I take it this is the scene with the line you're referring to in it?... Firstly, I took her line to mean that she knew she could be of help - which she was. She wasn't wrong that having her on the team was of benefit (what I previously mentioned about her rescuing Tony, taking out a whole ship by herself and going toe-to-toe with Thanos). That's not 'pompous', that's just stating a fact. Someone as super powerful as her *is* an asset. How often does Tony Stark or any number of other characters act like they're the smartest/strongest character in the room and no one bats an eye at that? Now, if she'd accused the others of being useless and such, then that'd be something else. And secondly, what about the exchange straight after that^ where Rhodey gives her crap for not being around on Earth and she quite rightly points out to him that there are other planets in the universe besides Earth that were in need of help? She's been doing a lot, and he accuses her of not just focusing on one planet.

Also, wow, not at all the point of the exchange she had with the Avengers in that scene. She was just saying she was an asset, and she was. And lastly, the character doesn't need to improve. She's fine as is.

Tony Stark is easily a thousand times more arrogant than Carol has shown herself to be, but he never catches hardly any flack from it from the fanbase. But Carol makes a couple of kind-of-cocky comments, she's suddenly "vote her out first" material.

Carol’s arrogance is supposed to be a strength and it falls flat.

By default that requires me picking an MCU character to delete. To get defensive about this is just plain absurd. What do you want me to do? Vote out Batman?
