Chris Pine apparently knows the plot. My next question, is he gonna be cast in it?
Rogue Squadron and Wonder Woman 3 are the same movie.

In a recent interview, Chris Pine told Collider that his Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins revealed the plot of her upcoming Star Wars film, Rogue Squadron, and the actor thought it was “really great.”

I wouldn't be surprised if Gal Gadot ends up being in it.

I'm ready. Call me a Star Wars poser but, I'm going to see this, and odds are I'm going to love it. And Disney will take my money and probably make more Star Wars films that diehards don't appreciate. I can't say that I'm sorry about that. However, I am a little sorry that I am not sorry. Next up, the Star Wars film about the brilliant Imperial industrial designer who makes all of that sick gear. And yeah, daughter of fighter pilot (who died in service of...) makes sci-fi / Fantasy film about a squadron of fighter pilots. Internet, please start your complaint engines... now. A former colleague of mine who’s still a friend is one of those “original trilogy only”, “they should focus on Vader” people, and I don’t get it. Why? It has a massive expansive galaxy, and thousands of years of referenced history. No idea why you wouldn’t want to at least be interested in exploring it. The great part is, some of it may not be worthy of exploring more, but some of it may be what you never knew you needed. Let’s go!!!

I'm a huge fan of the OT but I've never been an OT only person. Anyway, as Tuvok once told me. And by Tuvok I mean the guy who played him on ST Voyager and by told me I mean me and a bunch of other people in the crowd at a convention. He pointed out that whenever a new iteration of a franchise is created, it's never aimed at pleasing the old fans. It's always aimed at creating new fans. So the OT only folks need to understand that the powers that be are not going to cater to their wishes. We don't have to like the new stuff but none of us should be waiting for them to recreate the old stuff again.

The original still exists. Just watch that and don’t worry about the sequels if it’s really such an annoyance. Pretty sure I’ve never watched Raiders of the Lost Ark thinking “Oh man that Crystal Skull sucks” the entire time.

Patty Jenkins ‘Star Wars’ Movie ‘Rogue Squadron’ Delayed (Exclusive) The first 'Star Wars' feature since 2019's 'Rise of Skywalker' was to have gone into production next year. BY BORYS KIT
Rogue Squadron, the Star Wars feature project due to be directed by Wonder Woman filmmaker Patty Jenkins, has been caught in the tractor beam and will take a little longer to make it to the big screen.
Jenkins and writer Matthew Robinson have been developing Squadron for Lucasfilm for over a year, with the goal of starting production in 2022. It was to have gone into preproduction by the end of this year.
However, sources say the producers and filmmaking team came to the realization that Jenkins’ schedule and other commitments wouldn’t allow for the window needed to make the movie in 2022.
Thus, Squadron has been taken off the production schedule. The hope is that once Jenkins’ fulfills her previous commitments, she will be able to return to the project.
Squadron would have been the first feature since the end of the Skywalker Saga, which wrapped up with 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. It has a release date of Dec. 22, 2023, and while that currently remains in place, dates can always shift.
It is unclear what, if any, of Jenkins’ commitments were at issue specifically, but she is in development on Wonder Woman 3 for Warner Bros. and a Cleopatra feature for Paramount. Sources say Wonder Woman 3 was initially to have followed Squadron, but that could shift now that the latter is off the table.
Squadron — and Jenkins’ involvement — was first revealed during Disney’s investor day in December 2020. In a video accompanying the news, Jenkins said she was using her fighter pilot father as an inspiration for the project and wanted to make the “greatest fighter pilot movie ever made.”
It is unclear if Lucasfilm will have another Star Wars movie ready to go before Squadron, but development continues on several; among them, one from Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige and one from Taika Waititi.
Lucasfilm is busy with Star Wars in the series sphere and has Book of Boba Fett debuting later this month, followed by Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor and Ahsoka, not to mention season three of The Mandalorian. It is also in production on Indiana Jones 5 and a series based on the 1988 fantasy adventure movie Willow

Why am I hearing this has been cancelled?
Even if it’s not, there have definitely been delays and with rumors swirling around about creative differences, this makes the second troubled production in a row for Patty.
Now I was skeptical of her after the original WW IMO had cracks the mainstream opinion of that film doesn’t acknowledge. I feel the obvious cracks of WW84 validates my stance. And now with these rumors and genuine developments, I am completely off the Jenkins bandwagon. She’s going to have to prove herself again

That other article about the delay is from last November though. This one was posted last February and says there has been no release change for Rogue Squadron.

Thank you. I keep hearing conflicting news. And then keeping up with what’s most current is weird. I have people telling me it’s definitely canceled. It’s hard to sort through this stuff sometimes

So… is there a point to this after Top Gun: Maverick?
I was psyched for this project, but WW84 killed my enthusiasm instantly. With the supersized success of Maverick, unless Patty plans to design and fly her own futuristic attack fighters… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
