Feel free to move or convert this to the official thread but I didn’t see one
I had a big thought
This film is going to get played as an Avengers film. Not only is coming off the heels of New World Order (just think of the implication), but it’s officially concluding it’s own phase, which is typically left to Avengers films. Not only that but we’ve frequently discussed to what extent this team might be merged with the concept of the Dark Avengers who’s role it is to be pseudo Avengers. And the cast that seems to be making up this team indeed fit that role. This is an Avengers film which play a major part in the world building of the MCU and not just a bad guy team. And that’s makes me all the more hyped for it. Well. A knockoff Avengers film anyway lol

The comic team has gone through a million changes over the years...but heres the original lineup. Zemo and his masters of evil in disguise. Then Osborne had a team with Bullseye, Venom, Radioactive Man and others...many of which got folded into the Dark Avengers when that became a thing. The Thunderbolts then became Osbornes private hit squad doing his dirty work behind the scenes and featured a lot of low tier villains like Ghost, Paladin, Scourge and Yelenas Black Widow. I actually really enjoyed this lineup as I really liked the character interaction. Then the team became a sort of Suicide Squad lite when Luke Cage led a bunch of criminals looking to shorten their sentences or whatever. It was a step down imo but I still had fun with it. Team consisted of Man Thing, Crossbones, Juggernaut and my personal favorite duo, Mister Hyde and Troll. These last two were highly entertaining and really hit it off as a pair of brutes among the crowd. Troll is an Asgardian lady who was kidnapped by trolls years ago and now thinks of herself as one. She wears a troll skin and carries a big axe and just smashes anything that poses a threat. Mister Hyde takes a liking to her immediately. Then the Thunderbolts was recast again as Red Hulks government sponsored special ops team. It featured Deadpool, Elektra, Agent Venom and Punisher....it was decent but this is where I started slowing down on my comic book reading so I never got to the end of this chapter. My favorite moment was when they were working on a mutiny against the Red Hulk while inside a submerged submarine, and they decide that its the best time to attack him because he wont Hulk out in a submarine under water...and that "basically he'll be helpless"

I can see it branching off to the offshoot groups.

So looking at what's left in terms of villains in the MCU, i'm guessing the lineup is going to be:
Zemo
US Agent
Ghost
Yelena
Abomination
Taskmaster
Although i hope i'm wrong and we get a completely new set of characters for the team. Similar to The Suicide Squad.

I wonder if we could get West Coast Avengers?

Rosario Dawson said that Punisher is coming back;though she backtracked a little bit.

I guess that makes sense. Of course it doesnt exactly hurt the whole, "The future is female" agenda right? I see you Disney/Marvel

Similar to The Suicide Squad. Id imagine it’ll be some new new characters and some of these. I’m confident USAgent and Yelena will be in because Valentina already talked to them. I’m not at all sure about Ghost or Taskmaster. Zemo and Abomination seem likely though but I’m not convinced yet. And then I’m sure we’ll get at least one surprise member. Maybe swordsman shows up???

Its a solid lineup. Didn't expect it to be all characters we already know, but I really look forward to their interactive dialog. I hope we get some cool conversations out of this.

Im disappointed by this line up. Figured there might be some metahumans or at least a little more unique. They are basically all soldiers/spies..

Even though half of them are just super-soldiers, I'm not sore about it. A bit surprised that Abomination didn't make the cut.

Honestly… once I learned that they weren't going to introduce any of the Thunderbolts from the comic books (I think only two people on the MCU roster have ever been Thunderbolts), I stopped caring about the MCU lineup - and by extension, the entire project. It looks like the movie lineup is going to be super soldier heavy. I'm not convinced they can contribute anything new to the Dirty Dozen formula. Here are some of my concerns… No one is likely to die. No one is likely to betray the team. No one will experience a convincing redemption arc (as they've all already been "redeemed"). The villain isn't likely to be any worse than any of the actual Thunderbolts. The impetus for the team's creation is dead (i.e., General Ross). As others have noted, Zemo is missing - that's extremely disappointmenting for me. I'm deeply concerned that this effort will become a toothless clone of the Suicide Squad (Given Disney's preference for avoiding riskier material). I'm open to seeing how this project develops, but I must admit that this announcement didn't have anything substantive to offer me. On the plus side, the cast they've assembled is likely to have good chemistry.

Well...I couldn't care less about Ghost, and not having watched the Disney+ shows (RELEASE THEM ON DVD/BLU-RAY!), I know nothing about JLD's character or Discount Captain America, but Yelena Belova became a favourite of mine after seeing her in Black Widow and it should be fun to see more interaction between her and Red Guardian. Having a character as powerful as Abomination in the group would've just rendered the rest of the team moot, I would've thought, so I can't say I give two figs that he's not included. As for Taskmaster...well, they made it up to Jeremy Renner after he spent the majority of the first Avengers movie zombified, so hopefully they can do the same for Olga Kurylenko.

It looks decent to me but I'm not really familiar with the group, so I don't know if they're well selected or fit for it. Just as a random group thrown together they seem fine.
Only curious about Julia Louis Dreyfus because I haven't seen Hawkeye. I've seen her twice; once in FATWS and once at the end of BW. I don't know if she has powers or is super gangster or is like the Nick Fury of the group. Don't really know what she's made of yet.
But yeah it looks okay. There's a few people in there I wasn't sure I'd ever see again, so I'm glad they're still around.

It is a poor lineup in all honesty, I mean Christ three of them are Super Soldiers.
Marvel pretty much shot themselves in the foot by killing a lot of their villains early in the MCU.

I love the line up because none of them are outright villains and all of them have rich histories and 3 dimensional characters. The key to the movie being a success is giving them the right mission.

To be honest, it’s kinda boring. I like Yelena, Bucky and Red Guardian. Great core trio. The rest kinda suck. This Taskmaster is something no one ever needed to see more of. I’ll still watch though.

I would still be unhappy if it was just Abomination sub-ing out one of them Abomination would no doubt be played for laughs like King Shark because the truth is, if you have an intelligent and cunning abomination, you don't need the Thunderbolts. Gunn got away with it because King Shark is an inherently silly character. Clown the Abomination, and there will be trouble…
